Giving birth to a baby with CDH
The birth should take place in a center that has adequate medical facilities to offer appropriate care for the newborn. Your baby will be transferred to the specialist care of surgeons as soon as the baby’s condition (mainly respiratory and cardiovascular systems) become stable. The condition of the newborn must be sufficiently stable to allow a safe hernia repair surgery. In some cases, however, it is not possible to perform hernia repair surgery due to the newborn’s poor general health status.
