Postnatal treatment

Once stable, your baby’s condition will be assessed by a team of neonatologists and surgeons to determine if hernia repair surgery can be performed. If there are large defects in the diaphragm, it is necessary to repair the diaphragm by placing a synthetic mesh. For smaller holes, it is possible to repair the diaphragm by stitching it back together. The type of surgery is chosen by the surgeon during the operation.
